1-acre Rain Hose Kits

To set up and install a fully functional rain hose irrigation system, you need the following irrigation kits:

  • HDPE Pipe – for water supply from the source to the field distribution points where the rain hose pipes will be connected.
  • HDPE Pipe connectors – Tee, Elbow, End Cap and Couplings for mainline pipe connection.
  • Start or offtake Connector – connects the rain hose pipe to the mainline HDPE pipes.
  • Rain hose connector – for connection of two rain hose pipes together.
  • Mini-valves – controls water distribution to the rain hose pipe.
  • Screen filter – you need to connect a screen water filter to

Rain Hose Pipes

1-acre rain hose kits come with rain hose pipes of diameter sizes; 32 mm, 40 mm, and 50 mm.

Sizing the rain hose pipe to use

The size of the land to irrigate and the water requirements per day for your specific crop often determines which rain hose pipe to use. The crop spacing and line spacing should match with the radius of coverage of the rain hose pipe to use.

The mainline pipe also varies with   size of pipe suitable for your rain hose irrigation system

Length of Rain Pipe required per Acre

It varies according to the radius of coverage, flow rate and size of the farm you are planning to irrigate.

For 32 mm rain pipe the length required is around 800m, 40mm rain pipe should be around 600m and 50mm pipe takes around 400m.

How to Lay and Install 1-Acre Rain Hose Kits

  1. First dig and prepare trenches for laying HDPE or PVC mainline pipes. The trench should be 1 ft deep and about 30 cm wide.
  2. Lay the main line pipes on the trenches and connect them to the source tank or water pump near the source.
  3. Sub-mainline HDPE or PVC pipe connection to the mainline pipe. Use a smaller HDPE pipe as the sub-mainline. The connection requires HDPE tee or elbow fitting.
  4. Attach a ball valve near the junction of the main line and sub mainline connection for water flow control.
  5. Use a rain hose connector for connection of rain hose pipe to the sub mainline pipe.
  6. Spread the rain hose pipe, and close along the space between the plant lines.
  7. Connect one rain pipe to another with a connector.
  8. Seal the end of the rain pipe and Mainline HDPE using end caps.

How Beneficial are 1-acre Rain Hose Kits

  • Water Efficient – rain hose irrigation system generates effective farm irrigation compared to furrow irrigation. It uses less water to generate sufficient moisture distribution.
  • More affordable – rain hose systems are more affordable compared to drip irrigation kits.
  • Best for Closely Planted Crops – ideal for variety of animal grasses such as Napier and lucerne grass.
  • Higher Flow Rate – the flow rate enhances sufficient irrigation for your crops.
