Rain Hose Irrigation Systems
Aqua Hub’s rain hose irrigation systems are affordable spray devices for the irrigation of garden and field crops.
Rain Hose Irrigation System Prices in Kenya
Rain Hose prices are between KES 3,500 to KES 5,500 according to the diameter of the pipes.
What is a Rain Hose Irrigation System?
Rain Hose Irrigation System uses a pipe connection with a perforation on its entire surface to release sprays for irrigation.
Cost of Rain Hose Irrigation in Kenya
The cost of setting up a rain hose irrigation system in Kenya depends on the size of the farm. You can spend as low as KES 45,000 for a small scale.
What is Contained in a Rain Hose Irrigation System?
To make a rain pipe irrigation system connection, you need the following items.
- Rain Pipes – 32 mm, 40 mm and 50 mm
- 63 mm HDPE Pipes – Start Pipes
- Male Adapter –
- HDPE Tee
- Elbow HDPE connector
- 40 mm Ball Valve
- 40mm Straight Connector
- 40mm End Caps
What are the Specifications of Rain Hose Irrigation Systems?
- Rain Hose Pipes are available at 32mm, 40mm, and 50mm.
- Rain Pipes are laid on intervals of 5 – 6 m apart
- Laying length is usually 25 to 50 m
- Wall thickness of 0.3 – 0.4 mm
- Flow rate of 180 l per hour at 1 bar operating pressure.
Why Our Rain Hose Systems are Considered Best
- They are manufactured from UV resistant low Density Polymers and thus works under high solar radiation
- Has different choices of rain pipe sizes and fittings
- Wide range of crops can be watered with rain pipes.
- Affordable cost of purchases, delivery and installation
- Flexibility eases packaging, transport and installation.
Rain Hose Irrigation Systems: Know the Crops Recommended
- Cabbage, Sukuma wiki, lettuce, and Kunde
- Animal feeds such as Super Napier Pakchong, Lucerne and star grass.
- Carrot plants
- Banana and fruit plantations
Rain Hose Systems: All about Pressure Requirements
Pump Head: 30 M and above
The pressure of the Pump: is 0.5 -1 Hp
Steps to Connect Rain Hose Irrigation Systems
- Lay Mainline HDPE pipes
- Connecting the mainline pipe to a water source could be a pressure pump.
- Measure and mark the sections to connect Rain Pipes on the mainline pipes.
- Cut the mainline on the marked parts and connect HDPE tee fittings.
- Connect the HDPE tee to a male adapter on the branching outlet and the other outlet to the connection HDPE pipe.
- Join the male adapter with a ball Valve followed by a rain hose start connector.
- Connect the rain hose tape to the start connector.
- Use straight connectors to join rain hose pipes.
- Connect end caps on the ends of HDPE mainline and rain hose tapes.
Benefits of Rain Hose Systems
- Economical – Cheap to buy and maintain
- Easy to maintain – Does not experience frequent damage.
- Filtration is not required
- Long Life – the rain hose tapes are durable for more than 3 years.
- UV-protected and cannot be affected by exposure to light.
- Low Soil Erosion effect on the soil as it provides smooth irrigation which soaks the soil
- Does not compact the soil and therefore makes plants grow faster.
Maintenance of Rain Hose Irrigation Systems
- Rain Hose Kits require high maintenance to reduce damages
- Check to ensure no leakages on the rain pipes frequently.
- Avoid sharp objects that may cut the rain pipes.
Advantages of Rain Hose Systems over Drip Kits
- Rain Hose Systems are suitable for crops with high water needs
- Unlike drip irrigation kits rain hose kits are way cheaper.
- It wets the ground faster thus shorter irrigation time.
- Irrigates a large pattern, unlike drip irrigation which concentrates in single crops.
- It provides an effective way to irrigate crops closely spaced for example animal grasses.
Precautions when Installing Rain Hose Kits
- Laying the pipes with the emitter hole side on the upper position.
- Install more than 50 mesh water filter at the outlet of the pump
- Monitor the system pressure to ensure it does not exceed 1 bar as it may cause the rain tapes to burst or damage.
